Parking sensors – how to choose Part 1

Parking Sensors – How to Choose? Part 1
Parking sensors are a modern convenience for drivers who have always struggled with this demanding maneuver, as well as for those who frequently navigate the urban jungle. Even the most seasoned drivers can struggle to find a perfect parking spot. So why risk a collision with another car or scratching your car on an unnoticed obstacle? It's better to invest in a proven set of parking sensors. But which one should you choose? Learn more in today's article.

Parking sensors – how do they work?

The principle of parking sensors is simple. Properly installed, they inform the driver via audible and sometimes visual signals that the vehicle is approaching an obstacle. The closer you get, the louder and more frequent the signals become. This allows the driver to maneuver with greater confidence, especially when reverse parking, thus protecting themselves from unnecessary collisions or damage to the vehicle.

Nowadays, many new cars, especially the more expensive ones, are equipped with parking sensors from the factory. However, if you decide to buy a cheaper model or a used car, it may not have this feature and will need to be purchased separately. Fortunately, Car-tronic offers a wide range of parking sensors, with something for everyone. But before you buy, check out what to look for when choosing the version that perfectly meets your needs.

Types of parking sensors

Two main types of parking sensors are available in car accessories stores: rear and front/rear. The former are much more popular due to the fact that reverse parking is significantly more challenging than the same maneuver performed forward. However, the front/rear version can prove useful for larger cars, which, due to their size, can be difficult to park both in the rear and forward.

Parking sensor range

This is a crucial consideration when choosing parking sensors. It's generally agreed that the best range is between 1.5 and 2 meters. A shorter range can result in being alerted to an obstacle too late. Longer range versions, on the other hand, will emit a warning when it's not needed, which is not only frustrating but also dangerous, as it distracts the driver.
However, we recommend choosing the sensor range based on individual preferences, as not everyone will need a warning signal at the same time. Fortunately, car accessories stores offer a wide range of models.
These are not all the requirements to consider when searching for the perfect parking sensors. More information can be found in the next article.
