Is a reversing camera worth investing in? Part 2
In our last article, we discussed the installation of a reversing camera and display, highlighting one of the advantages of owning this device. In today's article, we'll suggest what to look for when purchasing a camera and explore other advantages of this device.
What parameters should you pay attention to?
On the market, you can choose from cameras designed for specific car brands or universal ones. However, the technical specifications should always be the deciding factor when purchasing this type of device.
First, consider the lens type. More economical and affordable models will have a plastic lens. In this case, wear and tear will show more quickly. Others have glass lenses. This type allows for recording even in very bright sunlight and also guarantees good visibility at night.
Another factor to consider is the viewing angle. This determines how large a field the camera will be able to capture. Minimum versions will offer as much as the human eye can capture, i.e., 90-95˚. A more advantageous option is to choose a camera with a viewing angle of 120˚. This will allow the device to record part of the sidewalk, the image in front of the car, and the oncoming lane.
Price will also be an important factor. You can buy devices costing between 50 and 90 złoty. You can also buy devices priced above 1000 złoty. If you don't want to go to either extreme and still want a device with decent features, you should expect to spend around 200 to 400 złoty. The price will reflect the quality, meaning the material used, the resolution, and the camera's weather resistance.
Greater driving awareness
Not everyone is a natural driver, but everyone can improve their driving technique. A dashcam can serve as an educational tool in this case. Car often record their driving, then play it back and review their weaknesses. This way, they know what they still need to work on.
Don't get robbed!
Reversing camera. Some claim that a rearview camera mounted in a visible location will help cool down a potential thief's intentions and thus protect your car from being stolen. A turned-on camera will also help record the theft itself, allowing you to pass the footage on to the police, making the case easier for them and, above all, providing irrefutable evidence in court. However, such a camera must have high technical specifications.
