A flexible paste (mass) based on butyl rubber (butyl rubber) and bituminous additives, designed for soundproofing, silencing, and anti-corrosion protection of vehicle exterior body components (floors, wheel arches, sills, etc.). It has sound-absorbing and vibration-damping properties. It can also be used to soundproof exterior plastic wheel arches. The product should be applied with a brush to a dry, degreased, dirt- and rust-free surface. If necessary, dilute with solvent before use. Once dry, it creates a durable, flexible, and noise-absorbing protective layer that is resistant to mechanical impacts (e.g., impacts from stones, gravel, etc.) and weather conditions. Due to its strong penetrating properties and odor, the product is not recommended for use inside the vehicle cabin, e.g., for soundproofing upholstery or door panels (it may penetrate or seep through gaps and heavily stain the upholstery material). Before use, thoroughly mix the contents of the can. If necessary, dilute with solvents for phthalic, oil, or bituminous products (e.g., white spirit). The most noticeable effect of reducing road noise entering the cabin from the wheel arch area can be achieved by applying Defender paste to the outer surface of the wheel arch chambers (minimum layer thickness 2mm), whose sheet metal has been previously dampened with aluminum-butyl mats characterized by the highest level of vibration reduction (e.g., CTK Dominator 3-4mm, CTK Premium 3-4mm). Additionally, two types of soundproofing materials should also be applied to the plastic wheel arch covers, e.g., CTK Premium 2.2-3.0mm mats + waterproof noise-insulating foam, or alternatively, a thicker layer of CTK Defender paste, in the case of "soft" textile wheel arch covers to which mats and foam cannot be permanently adhered. In this way, it is possible to achieve a reduction in road noise in the lower part of the cabin by up to approx. 1.5-2.5 dB, depending on the car model, the amount, thickness and type of materials used and the influence of other body elements on the penetration of noise into the car interior.
