CTK FoilFix 200

200µm (0.2mm) thick aluminum foil with a strong acrylic adhesive from Henkel. This material is primarily used as the first, structural layer for sealing process openings in car door chambers, to which a second layer of aluminum-butyl soundproofing mat is then applied. This achieves high stiffness across the entire surface of the soundproofed door chamber without the need for additional elements (e.g., metal flat bars) to reinforce the soundproofing mat glued over large process openings. The higher stiffness of the material sealing the surface over the process openings primarily translates into higher mechanical stability of the entire door chamber walls, which also serve as housing for mid-woofers installed in the car doors. This positively impacts the quality and speed of the bass reproduced by the door woofers. CTK FoilFix 200 foil can also be freely used on other body elements, e.g. as a second, lightweight layer glued to an aluminum-butyl damping mat, to additionally stiffen large body surfaces (e.g. roof).

Installation

To use CTK FoilFix 200 material efficiently, it is recommended to cut it to the desired shape before applying it, with a few centimeters of excess to allow for secure adhesion of the foil to the substrate around the edges of the technological opening. It can be helpful to apply a sheet of foil to the opening along with the adhesive release paper and pre-press the edges of the opening onto the foil (e.g., by rolling the sheet over the edges of the opening with a roller for mounting aluminum-butyl mats). This will allow for the cutout shape to be reproduced without wasting material (remember the excess). Next, seal the technological opening with the foil of the previously cut shape and press it firmly to the substrate around the edges of the opening. In the area of ​​the opening itself, the CTK FoilFix 200 foil can be rolled with moderate pressure, for example, to lightly contour the recess if necessary. The next step is the standard application of aluminum-butyl damping mats to the entire surface prepared in this way, including the technological holes sealed with CTK FoilFix 200 aluminum foil.

Attempting to remove an already applied CKT FoilFix 200 film from the substrate (e.g., to correct the installation location) may result in permanent damage (delamination) of the adhesive layer, and therefore reuse of the same element may no longer be fully effective or possible.
