It scares away martens by delivering an electric shock in the engine compartment caused by touching (sliding) plates carrying a voltage of approximately 200-300 V/DC (weak current pulses that won't kill martens, but will only scare them away). Its exceptionally low current consumption of <0.005 A and automatic shutdown at <11.5 V/DC will prevent battery discharge if the vehicle is left idle for an extended period. The base unit that produces ultrasound is waterproof to IP 65* and can be mounted in areas where martens are likely to enter the vehicle. It also features a bright, flashing LED.
